Read on for a look into our recruiting process. We’ll dive into the steps of our technical interview process and offer tips for effective interview preparation.

Our Process

  1. Recruiter Phone Screen: Your interview journey with Snyk typically begins with an initial 30-minute phone screen with one of our recruiters. This conversation is designed to understand your motivations, hear about your background, and establish an alignment with our company values and mission.

  2. Pull Request Review and Problem Solving: Next comes our Pull Request (PR) review interview. This is typically a 90-minute session conducted using GitHub. In this live session, you will work alongside a member of our engineering team to review and provide feedback on a peer’s PR, then solve a coding challenge, showcasing your technical skill. We’ll assess your code review quality, gain an understanding of how you approach and solve challenges, learn about your opinions on maintainable code and software testing, and view how you collaborate and communicate with your partner to work as One Team.

  3. Systems Design: For more senior engineering roles, we’ll schedule an additional 60-minute systems interview to go deeper into your technical approach. By solving a systems design problem, you'll have the opportunity to demonstrate how you design scalable, reliable, and secure systems.

  4. Hiring Manager Interview: At Snyk, our culture fuels us. We value collaboration, empathy, innovation, and trust. In the 30-minute hiring manager interview, you’ll learn about the team culture, role expectations, and success metrics. This is an opportunity for you to dive deeper into your interest in Snyk and how past experiences have prepared you for the current position. You’ll be evaluated on how you align with our values and what you will bring to the business.

  5. Offer: After completing your interviews, the hiring team will meet to review all candidates. If you are selected for the position, your recruiter will contact you with an offer of employment! In this call, you will have the opportunity to discuss compensation and benefits. 

Tips for Success

  • Come Prepared: Make sure you’re set up in a quiet space that is free of distractions and leave yourself plenty of time to complete your technical exercises. Your recruiter will share the recommended browser and software to use for each interview. If you are interviewing remotely, please make sure you have access to a computer and stable internet connection and troubleshoot your technology.

  • Be Curious: Remember that interviewing is a two way process and we want you to feel that joining Snyk is the right next step for you. Have a few questions for your interviewers to learn more about our team, the projects we’re working on, and our workplace culture. While you’re in the moment, check in with your interviewers to ensure your solutions to our technical problems are heading in the right direction.
